HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Barbenheimer

Yesterday we joined the crowds, enjoyed the AC of the movie theater (and avoided the hot weather outside, lol), and experienced "Barbenheimer."

First we watched Oppenheimer...which was amazingly well done and thought provoking.

After that, we grabbed some lunch and people watched. :)

And then we headed back to the theater to watch Barbie...which was hilarious and highly entertaining (and not a show targeted at children like some might assume).

Micah (the instigator of this event for us) got into the spirit of things. He picked out his outfit ahead of time and painted his nails bright pink, with glitter on some. (Actually, after the first coat of nail polish, he let me finish (and clean up) the job, lol.) I found one of the only pink things in my closet and joined him...

...and even wore pearls (because how often do I have occasion to wear pearls? lol). Asher actually also wore a pink tee, and Nathan dressed as "Curacao Ken" (wearing the Hawaiian print shirt he got in Curacao, lol)...but we didn't get a full group photo. (Noah wore all black to indicate his strong preference for the Oppenheimer movie, lol.) It was fun seeing so many people wearing pink yesterday. :)

Honestly, we'd seen the previews for both movies and would have watched both...but probably would have waited for them to come out on a streaming service. But the whole "Barbenheimer" thing sounded fun, and we really enjoyed the day and experiencing it all together.
