HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

College friends

About thirty years ago, I started college and made new friends. A group of five of us have been in each other's lives since then. The last time we all managed to get together was October 2019. This past week, four of us managed to get together to celebrate our 30 years. (Sadly, one of us couldn't make this reunion.) So very thankful for friends!!

We flew into Seattle. Melissa Lynn picked the rest of us up at the airport (she lives in Washington) and we drove to our lodging at The Camlin in downtown Seattle. It was lovely and we were able to park there securely and just walk the rest of the time.

Overall, there was a lot of visiting, a lot of walking, a lot of yummy eats, and a lot of good times.

Along the way, we wandered down to Pike Place Market. I found this picture from the last time we were all there together in August 1999 and paired it with one from Tuesday...

...and here are other pictures from various moments at Pike Place and the waterfront...

(a bucket of mimosas, the disgustingly famous gum wall, getting pastries from Three Girls Bakery, down on the wharf, the beautiful flowers, and other pictures)

On Wednesday, we took the Underground Tour. None of us had done one before and our guide, Andie, was fabulous. We truly enjoyed it and learned a lot...

And here are some random photos from our time...

(on the monorail, at The Waterfall Garden Park (the birthplace of UPS), at the Seattle Center and at the airport)

While at the Seattle Center, we opted to bypass the Space Needle (we've done that before) and visited the Chihuly Glass Exhibit, which was very cool...

And then we all headed back to our lives and the rest of the summer...feeling incredibly blessed to have such good, lifelong friends.
