HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Thanksgiving, catching up

Um, I just realized I never really said anything about Thanksgiving. :) Oops.

We just had a nice quiet Thanksgiving here. I started the day doing the Fort Collins Thanksgiving Day Run thing with a friend from boot camp:

We just did a brisk walk together, enjoying the day and all the people. (I'd never done this run/walk before and was quite impressed with how many people participate.) Along the way, we ran into other boot campers and just generally had fun.

After Kathy dropped me back at home, the boys and Nathan and I just chilled...eventually warming up and enjoying the pre-cooked meal we'd purchased from Whole Foods along with some homemade deviled eggs and mac and cheese (for Asher, lol). We watched some shows and did some family reading and ate some more. Lazy and lovely.

The next day we met up with my brother and his family amid the Black Friday shopping (they were heading into the throngs). We had lunch (well, we did...they kept messing up my brother's order such that they ended up just cancelling their order altogether and eating elsewhere later...argh) and visited and I made folks pose for at least a few pictures:

And that was pretty much that. Nathan and I did participate in some Black Friday shopping, though we stuck with the online variety for the most part. (Nathan got some stuff for work and I started some Christmas shopping.)

Yup. ;)
