HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

DIng! Ding! Ding! We have a winner...

I finished 17 (yes, seventeen!) layouts yesterday! Wooohoo! So, qoedvc98, shoot me an email with your contact info (mailing address) and I'll get your prize out to you, okay?

After I've put stuff away and sorted things out a bit more, maybe I'll even post a few... ;)

Guess how many...a giveaway!!

Happy sigh. Just got home from an all day charity crop in Cheyenne and it was awesome! Not only did all proceeds to go a worthy cause (the Lewis Family Benefit Crop that you can read more about here) but a good friend and I had a little competition to see who could finish the most pages, and tied! I'm really feeling pretty dang happy about the whole thing and am in a giving sort of mood, so the first person to correctly guess how many layouts I completed will get a prize! (FYI, the crop was from 9 am to 9 pm and meals were donated so we didn't have to leave the building.)

Just leave me your guess in the comments section below and I'll post when someone's guessed correctly...be sure to check back, as you'll need to see your name and then email me with your contact info.

Disclaimer: Marti, Keri, Debbie and anyone else who was actually there are not allowed to guess. ;)

ETA: As of right now (12:30 pm MST Sunday, 1/20), no one has guessed correctly...keep guessing...

Only 343...

more days until Christmas. In case you were wondering. ;)

166 days until Asher's birthday. Yes. He asked. On both counts. And he wants to know how many more days until swim lessons...and just about everything else. Generally, my policy is that I will not keep track unless it's fewer than 10 days away, though they're welcome to make themselves a chart to mark off. In case you get these sorts of questions a lot, though, or are just plain bored, here's a lifesaver site to calculate the duration between dates.

Hee hee.

One of those moments...

I came downstairs from something today to find this:

Randomness.

Apparently, I've been "tagged" by the lovely Pamela. So, I'm supposed to share 7 random things about myself. Here goes:

1. I'm one of the odd people who loves the smell of coffee but does NOT like to drink it. (The only way coffee is to be ingested, in my opinion, is mixed with ice cream.)

2. One of the sayings I've heard the very most this month is "BUT I'M ON YOUR TEAM!" Yes, yelled usually. Said by Asher to Noah.

3. I don't mind watching the same show over and over...whether it be a total chick flick like "Sweet Home Alabama" or Micah's favorite of late, "Jo Jo's Circus."

4. I'm still really bummed that "Alias" ended.

5. I might love organizing my supplies more than actually using them. Might. ;)

6. My fingers are double jointed and it freaks Nathan out.

7. I eat hamburgers and sandwiches in a circle...always eat around the outside first. I don't know why. I've caught Noah and Micah doing the same thing. Hee hee.

Oh, and one more random thing. I'm notorious for breaking chain letters. Hence. I won't "tag" seven more people but will simply challenge anyone reading this who has a blog to share... ;)
