HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Back to School pictures

Okay. Today isn't actually any of the boys' first days of this school year, so we're calling these Back to School pictures. I happen to have them all in one place for the last time in a bit, so figured today works. :)

They were happily more cooperative than normal. This is maybe the best of the group shots, though...

That was amidst plenty of goofing around, like this...

In any case, here's to the 2021 school year:

NOAH will be a senior at CSU this year and will graduate in May with his degree in mechanical engineering! He has mostly in-person (some hybrid?) classes this fall, as CSU has mandated both vaccines and masks (indoors). He's still in the same apartment with the same roommate and will still bike to campus. He'll have a grader position this year, and classes start August 23rd.

ASHER will be leaving shortly for his first year at UNO (Omaha). He'll be studying architectural engineering and living in a four person apartment on campus. Most of his classes will be in person (though UNO doesn't have vaccine or mask mandates like CSU), and he has one class that's online. He'll have a car with him for getting to classes, though at least some are within walking distance. Classes start August 23rd.

MICAH is a junior at CEC this year. Classes at CEC actually started this past Tuesday. Micah only has one class actually on the CEC campus and it's in person (no mask or vaccine mandates). He'll also have two community college classes, one on the Front Range Community College Larimer campus (with mask mandate) and one strictly online through FRCC-Boulder. The FRCC classes start August 23rd. He's loving being an upper-classman and driving himself to and from everything and still has his part time warehouse type job on days he doesn't have class.

So, that's what I know right now. :) Happy back to school, everyone!
