HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Eat Your Science

Months and months ago, I bought tickets. And then months later we gifted them to boys for Christmas. The tickets were for Alton Brown's Eat Your Science live tour. Last night, we finally got to see the show. And it was totally worth the wait!

Here we are as we were waiting for the show to begin. Our seats were in a side box thing (no idea the correct terminology, lol) and were pretty darn good. We decided to sit according to height, so I got the second seat. (Our friends Molly and Mark also got tickets at the same time, and we visited with them during the intermission. We didn't end up sitting together (the sign language interpreters were set up in a different area), but we both enjoyed the show all the same.)

And then Alton Brown came out right behind us as he made his way to the stage:

Nathan snapped this picture as Alton was singing the first of several songs performed over the course of the show. And here are some I took during the first half of the show:

I won't spoil it for those of you who haven't seen it yet and plan to. I'll just say that it was hilarious and fantastically awesome and we all LOVED it!

Seriously. If you have the opportunity to go, you should see this show. :)
