HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

MIA (with an emphasis on "action")

Sorry I disappeared for a bit there. Busy. ;)

Let's see...in the past week (since last I posted)...we've had (that I can remember, though I've probably missed something, lol)...

  • 2 days of LEAP (one with lunch duty on my part)
  • 1 guitar jam session at LEAP
  • 2 swim team practices
  • 4 regular karate classes
  • 1 sword form karate class
  • 2 demo team karate practices
  • 1 morning going in to shoot at the archery range with a friend
  • 1 day of getting together with my college pals to bake cookies
  • 1 outing to get our Christmas tree (which remains undecorated, as of yet)
  • 1 JOAD practice
  • 1 JOAD potluck
  • an abbreviated version of our normal schoolwork
  • 1 afternoon of getting together with homeschool friends to bake cookies
  • 1 excruciating ziggurat project
  • 1 winter program for LEAP

Plus, I've finished our 2013 calendars, most of our more than a dozen teacher/coach gifts, our 80-some holiday cards (which will go out in the mail shortly), reading Throne of Fire as a family, and most of our holiday shopping.

Whew. Yeah. So. I'll elaborate shortly...honest! In the meantime, here's a picture I managed at 12:12 on 12-12-12:

(I was at LEAP on lunch duty and grabbed these two uncooperative boys, lol. At least they were cooperative enough to be nearby...I couldn't find Noah in time.)
