HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Christmas...

Continuing in my catching up...

(And, btw, Nathan's "office" is really just the little extra space at the top of the stairs in the middle of the house. And, yes, you counted correctly if you see four computers in that picture. We also have the one in my office, Nathan's iPad, two iPhones and an iPod Touch. We're like that, lol. Also, most of the credit for that entire space goes to Nathan...who was finally fed up enough to make a plan. ;) The bonus he got at work awhile back didn't hurt either, lol.)

Let's see. Christmas was good. Santa brought the boys each a new bow case and a giftcard to Rocky Mountain Archery along with a more individual gift (legos in two cases and Apple technology in the other). Since their new bows weren't in yet, Christmas day was spent customizing the bow cases (each boy picked a different color bow and hence received a different colored roll of duct tape which was then used to identify the bow cases) and playing with the legos:

Yes, Noah's bow and duct tape are black. Yes, so is the bow case already. He still added the duct tape and informed me that it made a difference because the duct tape is a glossy finish. So there. :) (For the record, Asher's bow is blue and Micah's is camo.)

I must also interject here how nice it was to have a Christmas that wasn't full of legos. ;) I didn't even do a piece count. The boys did get a few sets for each other and received a few sets from Santa and grandparents; but, aside from a couple stocking stuffers for each boy, Nathan and I didn't contribute any legos at all. Woohoo! (We'll just ignore, for now, how very expensive archery is...lol.)

Grandparents arrived late Christmas day and were here until January 3. During that time, the boys made the most of additional adults willing to play games with them...we all visited the Chihuly exhibit at the Fort Collins Museum of Art (amazing stuff!)...and Nathan and I managed to get out a few times by ourselves. Good times. ;)

More to come...*almost* caught up I think... ;)
