HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Though there are plenty of more important things...

I'd like to officially proclaim my desire that all mosquitoes everywhere be GONE! Ugh. I hate mosquitoes. Thoroughly. Unfortunately, they seem to very much like me, as I'm constantly being accosted. As evidence (though I don't really need further evidence given my lifetime experiences with the blasted bug), at Noah's soccer practice last night I suffered at least 20 bites from just the waist up (probably the same on my legs but I refuse to count). I have bites even on my stomach, people! (and, yes, I was wearing a shirt and long pants) I had people swatting me in attempts to help. Because apparently all the mosquitoes in the area decided to focus on me. Not one of the boys received a bite. Not one. Argh.

Hence. I hereby file this complaint. So there.

I KNOW! Last night the SAME mosquito bit me three times before my husband yelled "STAND STILL" and smacked my arm to get 'im! I was so happy to have that thing gone! Sorry you had to deal with them! At least mine was only one and it was inside with no chance for more!

I'm the exact same way. I HATE them. I refuse to walk to the mailbox across the street because I will come back w/ at least 10 bites.

I feel your pain. I think I hate ants as much as you hate mosquitoes. I know if I see one ant somewhere, there are 200 others with it! Yuck!

Take vitamin B. For some reason, it must change the "taste" of your blood and they won't bite! I live in Minnesota and our unofficial state bird is the mosquito, so I feel your pain, believe me! I'm usually the one in our family being stung.

They always swarm around me, too, Amanda! It must be because we are both so darned sweet ;o)
