HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now grown) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

I love crops.

Happy sigh. Home again from an awesome all day crop. :) I had a blast!! Learned about Glimmer Mist from the experts (gonna definitely play with that and hopefully post some projects soon!), managed to finish 17 layouts (yes, I pre-plan stuff like crazy, LOL), had a crazy good time chatting and shopping with friends, and finished out the night having dinner with three Lisa's. :) We were sad our Cheyenne pals weren't able to plow themselves out of the snow up there but thankful that our own moisture stayed in rain form. Pooped now. Will try to photograph layouts and such tomorrow or the next day (need decent light and it's been pretty overcast of late, lol)...

Hope your weekend's off to as lovely a start as mine!

The snow shall not stop me...

...from attending and enjoying my all day crop scheduled for this Saturday. Nope. Not gonna let the weather interfere. (Can you sense the power of my positive thinking here?)

So what if the weather forecast is predicting potentially 10-24 inches of snow?! Argh.

Now, the boys' soccer games are another story. I'm guessing that the snow will, yet again, stop them. This should have been week four. So far, we've only managed one game with (assuming this weekend is canceled) three games called on account of snow. I know I was all for the first game being canceled, but this is getting ridiculous. Also, I hate trying to explain this to the boys...particularly Noah who is downright outraged with Mother Nature and quite upset over the loss of these games (they don't make them up). I'm a big chicken and haven't yet told him that he'll need to miss another game in May due to his First Communion (which, yes, is on a Saturday and just so happens to conflict with his game that day). Anyone want to tell him for me? :) Sigh. This will mean that the best case scenario (of no more canceled games) will only let him play four games of the eight this season. He's gonna be miffed.

On the plus side, it's good, don't you think, that he so loves soccer?

(Asher, in case you were wondering, is much more at peace with the game cancellations. His view is that at least we might get to go sledding again, lol.)

No cavities!

Just popping back online to report that all three boys received a thumbs up at their dentist appointments yesterday! Hooray! (Now if we could just figure out what to do about the fact that Asher's bottom two permanent teeth are set to come in, none of those baby teeth have come out, and the 2 permanent teeth take up the space of the 4 baby teeth currently there...lovely.)

Also, if anyone knows why our minivan's alarm system has been seemingly possessed of late, please let me know. :) Last weekend, it would randomly set off the alarm, even in our garage, where we deliberately hadn't locked it...at which point it was randomly locking itself and then thinking it was being broken into. Fun. It's being looked at today but if anyone has heard it going off when I've not been within hearing distance to turn the thing off, I apologize. :)

And, my pal Kaitlin has new stuff up in her Etsy shop that's totally worth looking at! I just got one of these and some of these and am loving the new printing process. Looking forward to using 'em! Got some great scrapping time planned this weekend so should have plenty to share after that!

Oh. And, in case you were wondering, Noah and Asher are currently trying to teach Micah how to play checkers in the next room. Listening to them is pretty entertaining. ;)

Stay tuned...

Just popping in to say that I have heaps of first soccer game and Easter pics to sort through yet and have a rather busy next few days...so, chances are good that I'll be missing. :) But. When I find the time, I definitely hope to have some layouts to share and a giveaway or two!

Eggs.

So, we dyed eggs today. Took some fun pictures. Here's one of my favorites:

The remaining dozen eggs that aren't here in the mini muffin tin (which sadly has only ever been used for this, lol) were pretty much all purple. Strange.

In case I don't make it back to my blog this weekend, happy Easter to all!
