HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

The snow shall not stop me...

...from attending and enjoying my all day crop scheduled for this Saturday. Nope. Not gonna let the weather interfere. (Can you sense the power of my positive thinking here?)

So what if the weather forecast is predicting potentially 10-24 inches of snow?! Argh.

Now, the boys' soccer games are another story. I'm guessing that the snow will, yet again, stop them. This should have been week four. So far, we've only managed one game with (assuming this weekend is canceled) three games called on account of snow. I know I was all for the first game being canceled, but this is getting ridiculous. Also, I hate trying to explain this to the boys...particularly Noah who is downright outraged with Mother Nature and quite upset over the loss of these games (they don't make them up). I'm a big chicken and haven't yet told him that he'll need to miss another game in May due to his First Communion (which, yes, is on a Saturday and just so happens to conflict with his game that day). Anyone want to tell him for me? :) Sigh. This will mean that the best case scenario (of no more canceled games) will only let him play four games of the eight this season. He's gonna be miffed.

On the plus side, it's good, don't you think, that he so loves soccer?

(Asher, in case you were wondering, is much more at peace with the game cancellations. His view is that at least we might get to go sledding again, lol.)
