HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

First post of 2024

Happy first post of 2024! So...it's been a bit of a quiet start to the new year around here. Let's do some catching up...

Since returning from Montana, Nathan, Noah & Asher have been sick. (A couple days of fever and congestion and such...negative Covid test...lingering cough since then.) It was enough that Nathan and Noah took sick days from work, and things have just generally been pretty quiet here.

The day after we got back, Micah had his monthly infusion and then we picked up our charcuterie platter from The Fox & The Crow. The platter was for our New Year's Eve tradition but we had to pick it up a day early since that was, sadly, the last day that The Fox & The Crow was open.

So bummed that they've closed but truly appreciated and enjoyed our last platter as we welcomed in the new year.

After getting home, Asher and Micah had a consultation appointment...then...

On Tuesday, Asher and Micah joined demo team friends and got matching tattoos. The tattoos say "taekwondo" in Korean.

Love this group and that they've stayed such good friends, having known each other (either through karate or homeschooling or both) for more than a decade.

On Friday, Nathan and I went to a fabulous cooking class at The Cooking Studio. The experience was my Christmas gift from Nathan and was delicious. :) We made frangipane tarts, bacon wrapped figs (stuffed with goat cheese), chicory salad with apple, roasted acorn squash and seared salmon.

Did I mention that it was delicious? Yum!

On Sunday, Nathan and I took Asher back over to campus, and he started spring semester yesterday. So far, so good. :)

Beyond all of that, I've also been back to boot camp and climbing, been tackling lots of little chores and paperwork, and been working on planning out things for the year. Micah will head back to campus on Friday (classes start Tuesday).

So. That's what's been happening here...a quiet but productive(ish) start to the year. Hope your 2024 is also off to a good start!
