HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Our Christmas (recap)

Hi again. :) So, we did Christmas a little differently this year. We decided to go to Nathan's parents' in Montana instead of having them come here to us. Given that we flew on Christmas day, we did our own little Christmas celebration here a day early.

We woke boys finally around 10 to start opening gifts (and started with the stockings this year so that people could snack on candy during the opening and wake up a bit more and be happier, lol). Enjoyed our small pile of gifts then had a nice brunch followed by Santa photos...

Yup, every year since they became teens, I've asked the boys for a photo of them with Santa. Some years, they actually went to see Santa...some years, they found a fake Santa to pose with (inflatable or otherwise). This year, Micah decided he would be Santa so gathered what he could to create his own Santa costume (and everyone was glad when he figured out how to use a stocking hat for the beard instead of shaving cream, lol). They started with the traditional pose (above)...and then reversed it so that Santa was sitting on the others' laps...and let Asher lay in Santa's lap...and Micah wanted to make sure we knew he was a "fit Santa"...and I even got to sit with Santa.

(I'll try to gather all my Santa photos over the years and share sometime...maybe in January??)

After all that, we played the new games we got...Ticket to Ride (both Japan and Italy versions) and Tokaido...with breaks for snacks and dinner and a bit of the Broncos game...

(The little ramen ornament is one that I found and gave to Nathan because it looks very similar to the logo for Snackpass, where Nathan works.)

And then we cleaned up and got ready for our trip...
