HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Kung Fu Fighting

My Asher performed Friday and Saturday night at The Lincoln Center here in Fort Collins. He did an awesome job of it! So proud of him!

He and a friend were asked by the High Performance Dance Theater (HPDT) group to be guest performers in their "The Groovy 70's" show. They had a number to "Kung Fu Fighting" and wanted some actual martial arts. Two of the HPDT members actually have also been on the demo team at Karate West so knew Asher already and invited Asher, Micah and a couple of the other demo team guys to perform. Micah opted not to participate, but Asher and Josiah stepped up and choreographed a number last Sunday...changed and practiced it on Monday...practiced on Wednesday...had dress rehearsal Thursday...and performed Friday and Saturday. It was a busy week. :)

We went to watch the show last night and had a great time enjoying the 70's music and watching Asher! Photography & recording were prohibited but I sneaked this photo at the end when they were taking their bows...

...and then got this better one in the lobby where the performers were mingling with the audience after the show...

(Yes, they got to just wear their karate uniforms and were both relieved not to have to find or wear actual 70's attire, lol!)

Yay for a fun evening and experience!
