HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Birthday

Thank you all so very much for the fabulous birthday wishes yesterday! I thoroughly loved hearing from everyone (especially loved the serenades from my little nephews and nieces!) and had a wonderful birthday...

I started the day at boot camp at the park...and, even though it wasn't "fun," it felt good because my sprained wrist seems to finally be mostly healed. Great to be able to do things again!

I got a few things done in the morning and then had an awesome birthday lunch with Deanna up in Old Town...

We ate too much and talked a lot and drank a bit...and then we walked around Old Town for awhile and sat on a bench and chatted even more...

...before I finally had to take her home because we have lives, lol.

Next, I picked up Noah for a bit (he needed his passport for some employment paperwork and it's stored here) and took him back to his apartment before Nathan made me crab for dinner (no one else here eats seafood so I only get it on special occasions). Then we had a nice quiet evening just watching some shows together.

Also, here's an impressive poppy I enjoyed on a walk around our neighborhood, the first of my peonies to bloom (as if in recognition of my birthday, lol), and the beautiful arrangement my in-laws sent.

So. That was my birthday in a nutshell...not overly exciting but truly lovely. Thanks again to everyone who made me feel so special!

(PS The day before my birthday also had some celebration but that's for another post...)
