HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Happy sigh

Many thanks to those of you who wished me a happy birthday on Friday! I had a wonderful birthday...Micah made me a fabulous lunch, Noah got me some of my favorite snacks, and Asher sent this picture from Costa Rica:

(He sounds like he's having a terrific adventure and loving the experience...can't wait to hear more when he gets home.)

Beyond all that, Nathan took me out for dinner:

We tried out The Cache up in Old Town and loved it...we even met the actual Ginger of Ginger & Baker while we were there.

After that, we wandered Old Town...partly enjoying the First Friday Art Walk and partly just popping into random stores to look around. We ended at The Coppermuse with cocktails and bacon wrapped dates before heading to the AirBNB Nathan reserved for a night away from boys.

In the morning, we enjoyed brunch at the Silver Grill Cafe (I tried a new dish and got to have a mimosa with my meal) and did a little more shopping before heading home to pick up boys. We all ventured back up to Old Town to go to the Taste of Fort Collins, where we ate yummy food and walked through the many booths. It was a gorgeous (and delicious!) afternoon:

And then we returned home for a lazy evening...a lovely ending to a beautiful day. :)

Today was back to regular chores and such, but I also got to go climbing some with Micah. He and I both think I might be getting better, lol.

All in all, a fabulous way to usher in a new year!
