HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Five on Friday

1. Noah had been having a streak of bad/poor luck at the weekly HeroClix tournaments he and his brothers go to. Like more than a month's worth of bad luck that we were all a little tired of hearing about. ;) Wednesday night his streak came to an end, thank goodness! Unfortunately, his turn in fortune came at the expense of his brothers, lol. The random generator thing ended up assigning Noah to play each Micah and Asher during the three game tournament.

2. Why can't the buzzer noises on my washer and dryer sound different from each other so that I'd know which is which? Is that really so much to ask? :)

3. Just so you know, Noah's school year is going just fine. Right now his biggest complaint is that he misses out on the lunches we're having at home...you know, fancy things like hamburgers on the grill, lol. He's a bit bored by his packed lunches. Suggestions?

4. (For what it's worth, I'm surprised it's taken him this long to declare himself bored. He's packed the exact same lunch every day all last year and into this one, despite my asking him if he'd like something else.)

5. I really am going to start our homeschool year next week. I've *almost* figured out what I'm doing, lol. This past week has been a lot of me talking to and arguing with myself. ;)
