HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Checking in...

Let's see...

Last Saturday, Asher performed in his third New West Fest here in Fort Collins. Micah joined in for the first routine and is now joining demo team. :) I didn't manage as many pictures this year, but here's one of them both. Asher's in the splits up front, and Micah's in a less full splits two behind Asher. (Micah and the other two who joined in for just this routine are in their white uniforms.)

House painting is almost completely done! Well, it's done but we have a couple spots the crew needs to come address. That'll be another week or two, though. Still, whew. ;) (Incidentally, it may be a bit bright, lol. Some of our neighbors are a bit taken aback by our color choice, but I'm trying to not let it bother me.)

We're still waiting on new gutters and window screens and are scheduling the replacement of the fence.

We've also gotten rid of the back deck but now need a solution to replace it. We're thinking either a paver or concrete patio but need to find someone to do it for us. (If you're local and have any suggestions, PLEASE contact me!)

We have a number of other little touches that are getting finished up...door hardware, outside lights, house numbers, rehanging pictures inside the house that we took down when they were doing the roof, removing our "garden" box in the backyard that has become a dumping ground...stuff like that.

The younger two had their Options orientation on Monday and received their class assignments and met teachers. Both are pretty happy about it all and looking forward to the year.

I registered Noah for the school year swim team at our nearby gym again. That'll start up after Labor Day. (BTW, I'm very much appreciating that we're able to ease into everything this fall...first Noah's going to high school, then homeschooling starting back up, then Options starting back up, then swim team starting back up...later in September JOAD starting back up. Simultaneously, part of me wishes we could just start everything at once so we could get to our "normal" routine already. ;) It's okay. I told that part to hush and am reminded of the need to deal with all the ongoing house stuff, lol.)

That's mostly what's been going on here. Will update soon with how Noah's doing at CEC and with my annual homeschooling posts...
