HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Ha.

Just some quick thoughts on this rainy day...

1. Deanna's brother did manage to capture a picture of us going after Noah at the end of the Mud Brigade:

Yeah, I don't see any of our boys wanting to participate in a mud run soon. ;)

2. On Monday, we melted chocolate in the microwave to learn about and calculate the speed of light. I'll be honest, I didn't really "get" it. But, Nathan was able to explain the hertz and waves and such to the boys and we all got to each chocolate, so everyone wins. ;)

3. Yesterday was my baby sister's birthday! Wishing her a happy birthday always makes me feel old, lol.

4. I think I need a program that uses Star Wars to make the parts of speech "cool." If you find one, let me know, okay?

5. Dear Colorado weather, while I appreciate the rain and cooler temperatures today (hello high in the 50s today whereas Monday was above 90, but whatever), would you please remind people who drive here that rain will not melt them or anything and is not a good reason to drive 15 miles under the speed limit just to annoy me?

6. Incidentally, though, I do totally thank you for holding off on this small cold spell until today. Running the Mud Brigade in this weather would have been miserable! (And, hey, I get to wear a sweater and jeans and my new jacket!)

That was all. Now I must be off to take advantage of my time while the boys are at LEAP... ;)

The new jacket is fabulous, by the way. I covet it greatly (in a larger size, of course)
