HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Five on Friday

1. For the record, I think if Olympians tie, they should get to tie. Enough with the convoluted tie-breaker dealios. (Yes, I'm talking to you, gymnastics!)

2. My lovely staycation wherein I sit at home and avoid people and just watch Olympics with the occasional outing to take boys to karate is coming to an end. Sigh.

3. I know this because this afternoon I'm headed to Idaho Springs to stay with a friend so that in the morning we can both run a half marathon because we're crazy like that. ;) (The goal here is simply to finish, as neither of us has done the best of jobs of training this go round, lol. But. We'll be together and it'll be fun.)

4. Meanwhile, Nathan will be manning the fort here and will need to get Asher to the four practices he has between now and Sunday afternoon when his demo team will be performing at New West Fest downtown. Come watch if you're local! (They'll be on at 2:30 at the Kids World stage at Library Park.)

5. Next week it'll be time to start planning the coming homeschool year. Well, okay, I have plenty of plans already. ;) Next week will be time to start figuring out how to make them all fit. As I figure it out, I'll try to share here...I know I love reading other homeschoolers' plans. ;)

That was all. :)
