HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now grown) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Quick question

If your kids have signs on their bedroom doors, how are they attached? Now that mine are getting their own rooms, there's been talk of signage but I'm not sure how to hang/attach them to the doors...not sure I really want to adhere them, but they're too short to use an over the door type hanger, kwim? Ideas?

I think the brand is 'Command'? They have hangers for pictures etc... that come off completely clean and hold strong until you move it. We've used an 'invisible' one and it worked great.

You mean the signs that tell me that I'm mean and that I'm not allowed in the room? LOL! Those are attached with tape. If they are wanting to hang signs as more of a permanent feature, I'd use ticky tack if it's paper or the command/3M hanger things for something a bit heavier. :)

Have Nathan make some varied length extenders for the over-the-door hangers - that can be shortened with growth.

What if you put up a magnetic (or similar) board with frame of some sort using the command strips and then they can use magnets to change their own signs out?
It would look a bit more uniform but give them some flexibility so they can change signage without having to get new adhesive each time.
You could paint the frame/board to match the doors so they blend in with the door.
