HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Twelve on the twelfth...

(Right off the bat, though, is it just me or does the word twelfth just look weird?)

So. It somehow has managed to reach the twelfth (<< see what I mean?) of January already. Trying to be happy about that, so decided to share twelve things that are just making me happy today:

01-12-08happythings.jpg

1. This is just plain fun. Found this emoticon stamp over at Think Geek. The order arrived yesterday, and I can't wait to play with it!

2. Awesome frames from over at Etsy. I've actually used a bunch already but have plenty of ideas for more!

3. Loving this wheat stamp I got from Cornish Heritage Farms. So gonna use it this week! Also have some fun background stamps that (I hope) will inspire more card making.

4. Don't these just make you want to go find one of those spiro-thingies? Fun little tags from another cool Etsy store.

5. These might be some of my favorite clear stamps...definitely some of my favorite date type stamps! I particularly love the circle month stamp in these sets by Hero Arts!

6. Okay, I've joined the Moleskin bandwagon. Started using these for my 2008 lists and think it may be the start of a beautiful partnership. ;) So. Anyone have any great examples of covers you've altered? I want to do something but am overwhelmed by the possibilities...

7. Finally got my hands on one of these fantastic little memo books in the Noteworthy collection by Making Memories. I'm torn between just wanting to look at how pretty it is and wanting to rip it all apart and use the pages on layouts. :)

8. I don't know what this is called but I put one in each of our stockings this Christmas and they've been a hit. There's an elastic band through the center of the square blocks so each block can turn and twist. It's really hard to describe but the boys have been having a blast creating things out of them...just a fun little something to keep little hands busy.

9. Woohoo! Got a big ol' box of goodies from Creative Impressions yesterday and seriously can't wait to dig in more! There are mini paper clips and felt blossoms and metal chain and little loopy things and heaps of brads...wonderful. Now. If I could just figure out how to organize it all...

10. It's hard to tell in the picture but random spots on this paper are "glazed" and it just makes me happy. I'm definitely going to use some of this paper for some Christmas layouts! It's part of Fiskars' Cloud 9 collections.

11. Ah, cardstock. I love cardstock. Seriously. Here's some of my lovely Prism papers...including some of the NEW colors that will be released at CHA-Winter...can you spot them? Hee hee. Trust me, they're awesome. I particularly have fallen in love with one of the new greens.

12. A staple-free stapler. Really. I got it for three reasons...one, it's cool...two, with the new postal regulations whereby having a staple in your envelope might mean an extra $0.17 in postage, this seemed like a good idea...three, did I mention that it's cool? I'm thinking there has to be some fun scrapbook application for this, right? :)

And that's some of what's making me happy on this twelfth day of January. (Yup. Still looks weird to me.)

What about you?
