HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Wow. I have a blog.

So. I finally caved and am starting a blog. Hope you're happy. ;) Please bear with me as I get the hang of this all and don't be surprised if things randomly change from time to time. Right now I'm mostly working on figuring things out but I promise future entries will be way more interesting than this!

Wow, Amanda! You continue to amaze me! I am the one who is blessed to have you as a daughter-in-law, wife of my wonderful son, and mother of my fabulous grandsons. Now.......if only you lived closer.......just think of all the new pictures and material you would have for journaling and scrapbooking. Here's one from Asher:

On the day I was leaving from my last visit with you, we were at the kitchen table and I mentioned that to the boys that this was the day they would be taking me back to the airport. Ash said: "Do you really, really want to go?" I replied: "Part of me really, really wants to go and part of me really, really doesn't. He said: "Which part is which?" I said: "The part that really, really wants to go is the part that wants to go home and be with Grandpa John, and the part that really, really doesn't is the part that wants to stay with you." He thought about that for a moment or two and replied: "I thought you lived with just plain Grandpa." Sweet! Guess the term 'Grandpa John' threw him.
