HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Is it just me?

Or does October 8 seem a little early for the first snow of the season? Particularly given that I've only just accepted that it's fall, right? :) Sigh. I suppose I'll deal with it...helps that it's all fluffy and beautiful right now...

And the winners are...

Keens or Crocs here! And I can't believe you're going to be here and I won't get to see you!!!! October 3, 2009 | slammie

and

My favorite fall shoes are my Clark's clogs I got several years ago. I really need new ones, but my old ones are still comfy even though they look a little shabby -- hI have a brown pair and a black pair -- sometimes I wear without socks, sometimes with -- love them! October 5, 2009 | HeatherC

Thanks so much for all the fall shoe thoughts, everybody! Slammie and HeatherC, email me with your mailing info...first one to contact me can pick which of the two prizes you want dibs on. ;)

Had a blast in Seattle...will update in a bit...need to do some other catching up first, lol!

Acceptance (and a couple giveaways).

I have no idea why I fought it, but apparently I wasn't ready for fall. I blame my Keens. :) I love them and they're just so freakin' comfortable that I hate to switch to socks and other shoes for the fall...which, obviously, makes it hard for me to switch to jeans and sweaters rather than skirts and tees. See?

(This is Noah, me and Micah on the ferris wheel this summer. Yes, we really like our Keens around here, lol.) Sigh. So, now that it's October and the weather seems to be sending me messages (mixed though they are), I guess I'll try to get into the fall groove. Really. :)

Now, actually, I do love October. Almost as much as I love November. (But November wins!) I love the corn mazes and pumpkin carving and leaf jumping and just all of it. I just have to switch gears and remind myself of this. :)

In the spirit of doing just that, how about a giveaway or two? I'll pick two random winners to win either this (a couple fun Halloween sets by Making Memories from last year-ish...some wall art stuff that's pretty cool and a little mini album set):

Or this (an assortment of Little Yellow Bicycle Halloween goodies from last year, including a fun little shaped chipboard album):

I'm heading out of town tomorrow...going to go see my mom and sisters, hang in Seattle, get pedi's, wander Pike's Place and see a Bob Dylan concert because my dad would have wanted us to. ;) (Woohoo!) I'll be home in a few days, so will leave this open until then.

Just leave a comment here with your favorite fall shoes (maybe you can inspire me and help me move on for fall, lol)...do it before midnight Tuesday (10/6) and I'll draw two lucky winners then. Happy fall!

One of these days...

...I will actually finish sorting through pictures from the last little bit and post some.
...I will catch up my Lists of Me album and post those, too.
...I will get some more scrapbooking done that isn't for something specific.
...I will not feel overwhelmed by the to do list sitting on my desk. :)

In the meantime, check out the new challenge up over on the Good Grief Blog, okay? And check back because I'm bound and determined to actually make some progress today, LOL!
