HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Impromptu.

A recent layout about a great day last week:

(Note: I've recently added a gallery over on the left with some of my projects using Ormolu products. Specific products used are listed there. This layouts is one of those.)

Journaling reads:

Impromptu field trip days are one of my favorite parts of homeschooling. Today was no exception. After doing a wee bit of math workbooks at home, the boys and I decided to head down to Boulder to watch a laser show at the Fiske Planetarium. It wasn’t exactly what we were expecting but the boys still loved it. After the show, we played with some of the exhibits there (nothing that the boys didn’t already know really) then geeked out at the Apple Store, got some frozen yogurt at Spooners, played with a giant rolling globe, drove to Centerra’s Barnes & Noble and then finally headed home. Along the way, we covered SCIENCE (at the planetarium obviously, through Apple technology, and in spinning the giant globe and talking about inertia and friction)…HISTORY (the laser show was an hour about the history of flight)…GEOGRAPHY (I made the boys identify what continents and countries they were spinning when playing with the globe)…MATH (always plenty of math in the day, like figuring out how much to pay the parking meter and working out percentages (sale prices) at the book store)…READING (the boys read a number of books at the book store, not to mention the signage at the planetarium exhibits)…PE (walking around Boulder after the planetarium and pushing the giant globe around)…and even ART (if you count creating numerous frames in Photobooth while at the Apple Store *laugh*). So thankful for the flexibility of homeschooling together!

Also, it just so happens that one of my other layouts is featured on the Ormolu blog today, too, so check it out, okay? :)

Amazing but true.

Believe it or not, I've been scrapbooking of late. :) I've actually finished sixteen layouts in the past week...woohoo! I'm still in the process of photographing them, but here's one that's ready to share:

Just a quick little layout for our homeschool album...a snapshot of a normal day (taken last spring). Had fun using some of my Ormolu products, too...as you can see the blank ticket tags, the red journaling card out of the Treehugger Field Journal, and the sweet bunting digital art (which, unfortunately, is no longer available).

That was all. ;) I'll try to share more as the week goes on.

(If, btw, you'd like to see other Ormolu products in action, check out this latest blog post with awesome Creative Team projects!)

Ormolu.

Hey. Remember that awesome company I'm now designing for? Well, while I was out of town, the Creative Team rolled out its initial projects. You can see them here and here. Also, Ormolu has some stuff on sale and has new (stinkin' cool) stuff in the shop. Woohoo! In any case, here's a look at my contribution to the initial projects:

We gave this card to my grandma during our trip to WA. She'll be 90 this month and is still just as unique as ever. ;) (Seriously, she cracks me up, though it's probably unintentional, lol.)

So. That was all. Go check out the shop, okay? I'm already thinking about what I'm going to make next but can't decide where to start because I love it all so much! :)
