HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now grown) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Quick addendum...

If you managed to read the "Be Humorous" layout below, you'll see the boys' recent responses to the "what do you want to be when you grow up" question (hey, I really should make a list just of all the different answers I've gotten over the years!). In any case, Micah, having watched a Berenstain Bears dvd earlier today that dealt with town politics, was going on about wanting to be mayor. So. I asked him if that's what he wanted to be when he grows up. His reply?

"No (indignantly). When I grow up I want to be a teenager!"

Honest. This kid. Man he's a keeper! :)

07.08.09

Well, I missed out on my first opportunity to capture 07.08.09 at 10:11:12 today but will try for tonight. Love this idea!

In the meantime, catching up seems to be my theme for the week. Not only am I finally starting to feel better (was sick, don't know if I mentioned that, lol) but I managed to catch up both my 2009 Weekly album and my Lists of Me album! I seem to end up doing about a month at a time for both...will have to remember that for next year. :) In any case, here are my Lists...first, the one from the week of my birthday:

After that, I went with silly:

Then back to serious with a list on Father's Day of things I wish my dad could do with my boys:

Switched gears again to be happy about homeschooling:

And then one just because:

There ya go. :) And, hey, inspired by my new good pal, Kelli Crowe (scroll down a bit), who was inspired by me, I'm planning to start this whole list project with my boys for the next school year...a weekly list as a snapshot of their lives and (sneakily) some handwriting practice. ;) I love finding other scrappers who also homeschool. We should form a club. :)

In any case, I continue to love my own lists and now am excited about starting some for my boys. Kelli's got a great list going on over at her blog. If you have any more ideas, I'd LOVE to hear 'em!

Recap.

So, did ya'll have a good Fourth? Ours was rather uneventful, due mostly to me feeling under the weather...which meant that my brother and his family didn't come up for the water fight the boys were spoiling for (not that the weather was overly cooperative for that anyhow, lol). Poo. So, instead, we stayed in...playing games and watching movies. And then our neighbors came knocking to tell us that we had to come outside to see the gorgeous double rainbow right over our house:

(Yeah, need a wider angle lens, lol.) At this point, we were waffling about whether to walk into the park to watch the Loveland fireworks or find something else...storms in the forecast and uncertainty about if the fireworks would even come to pass. :) Given my being sick and the already soaked ground, we decided to drive up on the ridge west of town and watch the show (nice and dry) from there. Turned out to be a nice time, though the boys say they'd rather be *in* the park again next year. Perhaps. :)

Oh, and, unfortunately, we forgot a critical piece to the tripod when loading up so didn't get very good pictures this year. Here's one that I managed to get, though:

Plus, I did remember a few tubes of glow sticks that I found stashed away, so the boys had a grand time making "rings of power" while waiting for the show to start. During the show, Micah cracked me up (as usual) with his repeated comments of (and I quote), "I think I might be enjoying myself too much!"

And then we came home (with much less traffic to contend with). And yesterday was pretty lazy with laundry (woohoo) and a quick grocery outing. Ah, the exciting life I lead. ;) Will try to get some more scrapping done to share this week, okay?

Another Fourth of July layout...

I'm the special guest blogger over at the CK blog today! Check it out, okay? I even have step by step instructions over there. And, if, like me, you can't see the entire layout, I'm adding it here and hope that's okay. :)

Really had fun with this one...using lots of my favorite things right now...Silhouette, crimper, Fiskars punch and Glimmer Mist. Oh, and speaking of Glimmer Mist...

Glimmer Mist is the same great product with a Fabulous NEW Look! Check it out:

Btw, I think it's rockin' cool that Tattered Angels is located within minutes of me and seriously wish them all the best! Love their new look and now kinda want to go to their warehouse and see everything. :)

Okey-dokey. Well, have a fabulous and incident-free Fourth everybody!!

No idea why...

...but I found myself making this layout earlier this week. Seriously don't know why. It wasn't on my list or anything. ;) In any case, thought I'd share it:

Cardstock, including my fav Mirri paper, is all by Prism Papers. Colored in the fonts with Copic markers (very cool, btw...I'm still learning and was pretty pleased with my shading efforts on "Colorado"). More tomorrow...
