HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

To share.

I started out this post thinking about things I wanted to complain about...the single digit temperatures and blasting wind chill, having to deliver fundraiser products in said conditions, stores that lower prices nearer Christmas thus punishing those of us who may have planned ahead and actually done our shopping early, stuff like that. But. I've decided that's not what I really want to talk about. Instead, I'd like to just share with you a few things that I've happened across that I think worth sharing...

1. You have to look at this drawing! It's stunning. If I could figure out where I'd put it, I might just get it.

2. Check out Prism's giveaway from now until Christmas...awesome stuff!

3. This is just plain cool.

4. Is it wrong that I kinda want this shirt? :) If you haven't already, you might also want to buy Dylan's new Christmas CD. All the proceeds go to help the hungry.

5. I just love this. No idea why or what I'd use it for, though. ;)

6. I think the capes and masks here are fabulous! My boys, sadly, aren't interested but I still find myself thinking about how cool they are.

7. Call me crazy, but don't you think these are just rockin'? Wish I had someplace to wear stuff like that to (okay, not really all the time...just every now and then, lol).

8. Always love the inspiration to be found here.

9. For those who digi-scrap and for those (like me) who just like to collect things...this kit is spectacular. I love, too, that funds raised go to various charities.

10. And if you're looking for gifts for those (science-minded) kiddos in your life, here are some things I've picked up:

  • pretty much any books by David Macaulay or Simon Basher
  • this calendar (so excited to use this next year!)
  • these are pretty dang cool, looking forward to seeing the boys in action (they've done this in their PE classes and love it!)
  • and, of course, lots and lots of Legos ;)

Okay, I could go on and on, but think I'll stop for now. Stay tuned for the stories of the boys' Santa wish lists...

Hi Amanda,

I noticed you put a link to my artwork on your blog and I wanted to thank you for the nice compliment!
