HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

The lists.

I'm not sure yet what the title of the layout will be, but I'm positive that I must document the boys' Santa lists for this year. Here's what they're asking the big guy for...

Asher, age 7, wants various specific lego sets. He also has a remote control plane listed. None of this is a huge surprise. Since we've tried the remote control stuff before and they play with it for like 5 minutes, let's assume Santa will bring the legos. ;)

Noah, pragmatic 9 year old boy that he is, wants either a new mattress (he'd like one of the memory foam ones), a Nintendo DS Lite with Mario Kart, or a netbook (he knows the specific model and all, but I forget). His "other" list (for folks like us and brothers and grandparents) is comprised mostly of legos. Oddly enough, Santa thinks that the mattress will be the most appreciated. The kid knows what he likes and takes his comfort seriously. It's okay. Noah's already banking on buying his own netbook (to his specifications) during the after-Christmas sales. Not sure if you remember the whole Bank of Mommy & Daddy dealio (you can see the layout here if you scroll down), but the kid's got some cash saved up.

And, Micah, my lovely 4 year old, wants one of those big ol' recliners with cup-holders in the armrest and, specifically, one that also has a massage feature. Yes, really. As a compromise, after much work on my part to explain that we had no place to put a barcalounger, he's also added just a heating/vibrating seat pad and, of course, some lego sets. Yup, thinking Santa's going to go that second route. ;) (If you're wondering where the whole heating/vibrating/massage idea came from, he found one at his grandparents' house back at the start of November and fell in love...serious love. Then, while furniture shopping on Black Friday, he found a recliner with the same features and that was it. LOL!)

Sigh. What odd boys we have. :)

LMAO at their serious requests. Well 2 out of the 3. And exactly how many Lego pieces do you have in your house?!?!? ;)

So funny! I can't wait to see the layout! And for the legos--isn't it kind of like scrap book stuff? You can never have too much!

Wow! What unique requests from Santa! Yes, I definitely think they deserve on a layout!
