HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Day 4

The day we walked forever. ;)

Our hotel is awesomely close to The Mall. So, we had breakfast then walked

- to the Newseum, where we saw actual segments of the Berlin Wall, interactive reporter games the boys enjoyed, exhibits about 9/11, the FBI, JFK's assassination, and displays of Pulitzer photographs...

- through a fun sculpture garden...

- to The Castle just because (that's like Smithsonian HQ)...

- to the Air & Space Museum (where we spent most of the afternoon)...

- back to our hotel for Starbucks and a little rest...

- then out again to the Washington Monument (which is sadly closed for renovation)...

- to the WWII Memorial...

- to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial...

- to the reflecting pool and Lincoln Memorial...

- then to the Jefferson Memorial, with a short stop along the walk to throw rocks into the Potomac before finally getting to the last stop on our plan.

By the time we made it back to the hotel, it was about 10pm...we had a late dinner and crashed. ;)
