HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Moala

Yes, I'm still a bit behind on my blog posts. But. This one can't wait. :) I cut the boys' hair yesterday and somehow came away with a Moala:

For what it's worth, I usually do ask all the boys while I'm cutting their hair whether they want me to leave a mohawk or an Apple symbol or whatever...mostly just to mess with them. ;) But this time, Micah decided...hey, yeah, let's do that...so we came away with a mohawk on top (I'd already gotten to the back of his head but, fortunately, it looks pretty cute this way). I know it'll require a bit more maintenance but I think you'll agree that it seems worth it.

Anyhow. He's decided that his brothers' haircuts are too boring and that his is now awesome and exciting...and he has a little bit of an infatuation with his head, as he keeps asking me to put more gel in it (though I mostly refuse, lol) and "shaping" his mohawk. Oh my, this boy is cute. ;)

Oh, and, since I know you're wondering...a Moala is a mohawked koala. Yes, really. That's what Micah says anyhow. And for reasons unknown, he's been pretending to be a koala lately...climbing Nathan and clinging to him like a little marsupial. So. He's a self-proclaimed Moala. He has a little Moala dance. Of course. ;)
