HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Over the weekend...

No parades or big parties for us here but we still managed to have an eventful weekend...

On Friday night, Asher was awarded his orange belt at karate. The promotion ceremony involved showing off what kids had learned, awarding the new belts and then eating pizza. ;) Asher was pretty happy:

And here he is with the new belt actually on:

And karate wasn't all...it was a big weekend for Asher. :) Last weekend, he'd started testing the waters without training wheels; and, by this weekend, here's what we had:

(Many thanks, btw, to whatever friend it was who recommended that Balance Buddy! Saved Nathan's back, lol.)

Yup. We now have two two-wheeling boys on our hands, and they couldn't be happier! I distinctly overheard Asher say "This is so awesome!" under his breath numerous times as he was riding around the culdesaq practicing his new skills. We even managed a family bike ride over to the nearby Farmer's Market on Sunday (with Micah in the trailer so we could all stay at about the same speed, lol).

And then, this morning, the boys participated in their fifth Healthy Kids Fun Run:

They all looked to be struggling a bit more than previous runs, but all three managed to finish with great personal times (improvement for all three, I believe).

And now Nathan and I are getting less fun things checked off our lists and the boys are enjoying their last day of summer before we start school back up tomorrow...

Hope your weekend was lovely as well!
