HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Weekend running...

Last weekend (Saturday morning), the boys participated in another Healthy Kids fun run:

Yes, we've added long sleeve running tops to the mix, though Micah refused to wear his because he thinks he looks better in orange than blue. ;) (And, yes, we tried to talk Noah out of the jeans but he was insistent, lol.)

This was their second to last run in this year's series, and the boys are already looking forward to next year. It may be my imagination, too, but I feel like the younger two are closing the time gap on Noah, lol (course, they had more room for improvement from the start of this series).

That afternoon, I headed down to Denver for the SkirtChaser 5K. Molly was my running pal again:

And, even though it was a gazillion degrees (okay, only upper 80's) and the pavement felt like it was going to jump up and wrap its steaming warmth around us, we both finished and didn't die. :) (Ironically, if they'd just started the race an hour later at 4 pm, the cloud cover would have come in and cooled things off at least a bit.)

In any case, it was a great time (and an opportunity for some fabulous people watching) and, together with our friend Melissa, we all enjoyed a girls' night out after that.

Next up...the Heart Center of the Rockies 10K on November 5...which also happens to be the boys' last fun run. ;)
