HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Complete randomness.

- Why isn't it considered littering when newspapers and flyer people leave stuff all over my driveway and front step area? I find it highly irritating that I have to take the time to then recycle or otherwise dispose of all of that when I did not ask for it.

- How is it that my office keeps filling up? I haven't been scrapbooking much lately and haven't even been scrapbook shopping in months...yet I keep finding little stashes of product all over the place that need to be put away. :)

- If you need a little retail therapy and are in the market for some scrap goodies, check out this! (Not at all affiliated...just a fan, lol!)

- I recently realized that I've never picked strawberries. Many, many other fruits...yes. But, never strawberries to my recollection. Is it worth it?

- So. What did you do for the Fourth? We were utterly rained out here. Well, technically, we had a couple severe thunderstorm warnings, a tornado watch, a flood advisory and a flash flood warning. And then it stopped pouring rain and hailing just before the local fireworks show times. Amid all that, the Loveland show ended up being rescheduled for the next evening...which was beautiful and perfect and much appreciated! I have some fun pictures that I'll try to share soon.

- My layouts were up over on the Good Grief Blog recently and I forgot to tell you. I'm telling you now. ;)

- I think it's awesome that Fort Collins continues to place so nicely in the 100 Best Places to Live in America dealio. I know that we love it here...nice to know others do, too.

- Someone recently shared this article with me and I just had to pass it on...it's awesomely perfect!

Great site that you linked! Strawberries are DEFINITELY worth it to pick yourself. Used to make pies with them. YUM! We blew stuff up on the 4th. Luckily didn't set off any neighbors' alarms like we did last year. LOL! Saw Ft. Collins on the list. My hometown was 100th.

I totally agree on the littering thing - my parents are "snowbirds" and I keep an eye on their place - those newspapers and flyers force me to stop by more than once a week to keep their place looking lived in. Drive me nuts!!!

I LOVE that story on Divine Caroline. I have seen it before, but it always makes me chuckle. I have 3 little strawberry plants in my back yard - you are more than welcome to come up, visit us, and pick a few berries. LOL. Hope to see you soon. We need to do another crop one of these days. :)

I agree about the littering. I put a small sign near my doorknob last year that said "Please no flyers" or something to that affect and for the most part they listen. I hate that people throw things on our lawn and front step expecting that we want to pick them up.
