HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Promised a picture...

Here's me on my awesome new bike, pulling Micah in the trailer we found for a steal...

After Noah's soccer game earlier in the day (Asher had a bye this week and will have two games next Saturday), we went on our first family bike ride to the neighborhood park where the boys played at the playground a bit before we all headed back home. It's a little loud still with Noah and Asher's training wheels (and Asher's little legs get pretty tired), but it was great fun! It's fabulous to see the sheer joy on their faces when they ride their bikes and to know that this is good for them and for us! I envision many more family bike rides...

Oh, and Micah adores the trailer. It must be comfortable...he fell asleep on the ride home. :)

And, hey, can you tell that I'm having a blast on my bike? Growing up, bike riding was never a huge thing for me and I honestly don't think I've ridden one in almost 20 years. Getting to pick out my own was stinkin' cool and, fortunately, I remember the basics of how to ride. It's, um, like riding a bike...LOL!

Of course, I'm still learning the finer points, but Nathan's helping me with that as he has much, much more experience with bike riding (he did a Canada to Mexico trip during college with some friends and camped along the way...still keep meaning to make a scrapbook about that...). I figure the boys and I can learn as we go, and I'm so looking forward to the journey!!

Glad to see that you are wearing a helmet. I hardly ever see adults wearing helmets.

I haven't used mine in a while, because my girls have their own bikes. What a great way to get exercise!!! You're so cute!
