HELLO

Hi. I'm Amanda...a happy wife and mom to three awesome guys. We've lived here in Fort Collins for more than 20 years and are proud to call it home. Before moving to CO, I worked at a city attorney's office, making use of my law and Master's degrees from Duke. After settling in Fort Collins, I homeschooled my three (now teenage and older) sons and was delighted to experience music classes, soccer, karate, swim team, archery, Science Olympiad, First Lego League, parkour, and climbing (not all at the same time!). From 2005-10, I was also a contributing editor for a national scrapbooking magazine, authoring a book and a couple of monthly columns. From 2009-10, I founded and ran the Good Grief Blog. I enjoy learning new things, spending time with my family, volunteering with The Matthews House, traveling and indoor rock climbing.

Dandy.

So...a bit of catching up...

1. In addition to a lovely day on Father's Day (more on that to come), the boys and I saved up to get Nathan a new grill. We ended up telling him a week early, so we could include the old grill in the garage sale. :) So, we'd already set up and been using the new grill by Father's Day. (We grilled ribs and corn on the cob and asparagus for its inaugural meal. YUM!) Yeah, it's dandy.

2. Know what else is dandy? Having an 11 year old carnivore who also knows how to use the new grill so that he can make me a burger for lunch. ;)

3. And...having the basement back:

If you'll recall, it looked like this not so long ago:

4. Also dandy is the fact that we managed to fit everything left over from the storage room (and elsewhere throughout the house) into this closet:

...which once looked like this (scroll down...the stuff came from that third room and the closet is pictured below that). Trust me when I tell you that it was sincerely questionable whether it would fit. Nathan and I took turns trying to reassure each other that it would and alternately bemoaning that it was impossible. :)

(We've decided, too, btw, that we're apparently very good at making things fit...because even after getting rid of all that stuff in the garage sale, we feel like you can't see a difference at all in walking through the house, lol. We must have just had it packed in, kwim? And, even while complaining aplenty about trying to consolidate and store everything, we know we're so very blessed to have the space and the stuff. Still watching our local fire and praying for all those directly affected.)

5. And that all means that next weekend we'll begin painting what will become Noah's bedroom. ;) And the boys all think that that is very dandy. :)

Yay! Love the organized (and full) closet! Congrats to Noah for the new room - how fun!
